Once we have the manual maneuvers down we'll need to move on the autonomous portion of the challenge. As we go along with the practice of the challenge we are faced with different difficulties such as the axle misalignment and motor attachment. These smaller problems we are fixing along the way while also perfecting our strategy for the midterm challenge.<br />

We will need to be able to complete t`he challenges both manually and autonomously. The midterm challenge includes 3 elements needed to be performed quickly and consecutively using the controller and a code for autonomous. These elements will include hitting a flag, shooting a ball, as well as flipping a cap. The solid works design for our robot will also be worked on during the week and will need to be accomplished hopefully by the end of next week.<br />

Because the challenge is somewhat extensive we will need to have code covering many different elements of the challenge. Not only do we need to code for the manual use of the robot but also the autonomous code for both near and far positions in the arena. We've decided to use this new design to sweep up the balls in the arena, feeding them immediately into the launcher mounted behind it. This will allow us to launch the ball at the same relative angle as before as well as reduce the area of the robot needed in order to feed the launcher the ball. This extra space will allow us to use it for the arm mechanism needed to move the caps within the arena and put them on the flags on the perimeter.<br />

So far, this is yet to be started, but will hopefully be functional by the end of this week. The shooter, at times, seems finicky which effects the accuracy of the robot and its ability to hit the two high flags. Although, we did finish this second challenge on Tuesday of this week. Now that we've finished this challenge, we will need to move on to the next one. This next challenge entails hitting a high flag as well as planting a cap on one of the poles in the arena. Both of these objectives must be completed within one minute and is to be done by October 12.<br />

The robot needs to be able to grab a ball and launch it into one of the flags inside of the arena. All of this must be done within 30 seconds. The group has been working on this challenge for about three days and succeeded several times, but not during an official trial. Once completed during an official trial, the group will need to be able to hit a flag as well as place one of the caps in the arena on top of a tall pole to succeed in the next challenge.<br />

Testing of the new feature has begun with the beginning of this week and so far proves to be pretty successful at hitting the colored flagpoles. The next step in this process is figuring out a way to pick up and flip caps on the ground and on poles. And of course the cortex still needs to be mounted to the robot.<br />
